Comments:

after RI in 1961, I spent most of my life in QC where I established my residency. I worked as a government employee in Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas from 1978 until I retired in 2009). Presently I am a Barangay Kagawad in Culiat as a replacement to my daughter Ruth who migrated to Sn. Jose CA. last 2009. I have a son, Jojit, in NZ who works as an engineer in AirNZ and whom I occasionally visit. I hope to accompany my 2 other grandchildren in joining their parents in Sn. Jose anytime the petition papers have been favorably acted upon. I now spend my free time (after attending to the needs of my constituents in our barangay) watching movies, jamming with former colleagues from the Bank (gulping up to 3 bottles of SMB) with a platter of the famous Filipino sisig) . . . I am happily widowed and what else? I am now addicted to Facebook!!!

School Story:

I belonged to 1-J class of Mr. Jacob until 3-J and it was during our 4th year that Rizal Institute became RIDB. I was not particularly inclined to any school extra-curricular activities because I was competing for #1 in our class. I recall the school had a Rizalian Pioneer wherein the honor roll from 1st to 4th year were posted and I really wanted to maintain the prestige of being a PUSAG (who consistently land in the honor roll). Unfortunately, there were a lot of competitors who were more intelligent, smart, and topnotchers in academics than me, Virgie Lolarga, Inyang Magpantay, Totoy Laborde, and who else? (No regrets just the same)Studying then (mixed class) was challenging because either you had a secret admiration for a classmate (of opposite sex) or you simply idolized the young instructors like Mr. Pete Ducot, Mr. Garaza, Mr. Tabarez, Mr. Abiera, or Mr. Uson (whose pair of eyes we always compare to a foreign actor - John Derek). Who could forget Mr. Bascon from whom my brothers Kuya Dayo and Tacs learned how to play the Horn. But it is Mr. Jacob I fondly remember - the disciplinarian, strict, but always at hand to give counselling. I also remember him sending me to 4-H Field Competition together with Carmelita Nazaredo just to find out later on that we would be competing in a contest - maguunahang hulihin ang isang piglet with grease all over his body and in a mud pool? Until now I cant help but smile everytime I remember that incident and to think I was expecting a more challenging contest of the mind . . . but those are fond memories I treasure . . . .
